Process

We want to be sure that our firm is a good fit for your legal needs. We focus our resources and attention on the practice areas of estate planning, elder law, estate administration, real estate, and business law. We want to provide you with information to make informed decisions. At our initial meeting, we make sense of your situation, translate legal jargon to English and develop a plan to address your legal needs. We are not the right fit for everyone; regardless, we always try to point people in the right direction, even if it's not to us. Clients that do end up working with us can count on great service. We continually educate, explain and help our clients make the right choices.

Initial Meeting

If you would like to work with us, the first step is to contact our office and schedule an initial, no obligation consultation. We will link you to our questionnaire. We ask that you complete the questionnaire and return it to us prior to our planning meeting. With the questionnaire we will be able to focus on your circumstances. We want to hear from you about your goals and values. After assessing your situation at this planning meeting, we will discuss your options and the legal fees associated with those options. When you decide on the option that makes the most sense for you, we will prepare an Engagement Agreement for your approval.

Drafting & Review

We will design your estate plan based on what we learned about you from the planning meeting. We will draft the relevant documents to carry out the plan. We will review the documents with you and put them in context, so you understand how the plan works. We educate you with the help of diagrams and a plain English summary rather than overwhelm you with lengthy legal documents. We take time to explain your estate plan, so you are comfortable with the estate plan solutions.

Implement the Plan

After you have reviewed the estate plan and we have addressed your questions and concerns, we will meet with you and attend to signing the documents. We will work with you and your financial advisor to align your assets with the estate plan documents.
